Posy gathers video messages for someone special. That means faces and voices, so here is plainly what we hold, who sees it, and how to take it back.
Who we are
Posy is made by ARJL Ltd, registered in England and Wales. We’re the controller of your personal data under UK GDPR. You can reach us any time at hello@posy.video.
What we hold
- If you organise a posy: your account details, who the posy is for, and the names — and, if you add them, phone numbers or email addresses — of the people you invite.
- If you record a message: your video (your face, your voice and anything else in shot), the name you give us, and when you opened the invite and recorded. You don’t need an account.
- If a posy is for you: your name as the organiser typed it, and whether and when the film was watched or downloaded.
- Everyone: our servers keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the service secure and working.
Your consent as a contributor
Before your video is sent, you tick a box to say you’re happy for it to be part of the film. That consent is what we rely on to use your clip. You can take it back by deleting your clip: open your invite link again and choose “Delete it”.
Once the film has been made, email us or ask the organiser. We’ll remove your clip and make the film again without it — but see “Downloads” below.
Who sees your clip
The organiser, who can see every clip and remove any of them. The person the posy is for, and anyone they or the organiser send the watch link to. The organiser can add a six-digit code the link needs before it plays. Posy films aren’t public, aren’t listed anywhere, and are never used for advertising.
Downloads can’t be recalled
The finished film can be downloaded by the organiser and the person it’s for. Once a copy is on someone’s device, it’s theirs — we can delete ours, but we can’t reach into their phone. Worth knowing before you record.
How clips are processed
We use automated tools to prepare clips for the film — checking whether one is too dark, too quiet or on its side, and transcribing speech for captions. Some of this is done by transcription and AI service providers working for us under contract, only to do this work.
How long we keep it
- Original clips are deleted 90 days after the film is delivered.
- The finished film is kept so it can be watched again, until the organiser deletes the posy.
- A clip you delete, or one the organiser removes, is taken out of the film and deleted from our storage.
Who helps us run Posy
Our servers and storage are with DigitalOcean in London. Transcription and AI providers help process clips, as above. We measure how the website is used — page views and the steps of recording — on our own servers with PostHog (EU-hosted), with no cookies and nothing tying it to you. The website’s typefaces load from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when a page loads. We don’t sell your data, and we never will.
Age
Posy is for people aged 13 and over. If you think a child under 13 has sent us a clip, email us and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@posy.video. You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk), though we’d rather you told us first.
Changes
If something here changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so on this page and update the date at the top.
